The 11300 Neurosurgery unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital specializes in pre- and post-operative cranial and spinal surgery patients. We are the secondary choice for any general neurology and stroke patients. We commonly maintain intermittently drained lumbar and surgical drains. Our unit does not take any drips that require titration (with the exception of Heparin), trached/total laryngectomy, EVDs, fresh TPA administration, or arterial lines.

The 11300 Innovative Neurosurgery is proud to be part of a Magnet designated organization that is also a level 1 trauma, certified stroke center, and academic healthcare facility. Our neurosurgery, general neurology, and stroke patients are covered 24/7 by an in-house Nurse Practitioner or Resident. We are Barnes-Jewish Hospital's innovation unit and partner with the in-house research department to fine-tune new products and workflows before their release across the organization.

11300 opened in 2016 and was built with the latest healthcare technologies in mind. All beds have a vital sign machine built into the wall next to the bed that allows information to flow over into the EMR. Patient lifts are built into the ceilings of all private rooms, and we utilize E-Sitters to promote patient safety. We also have a variety of patient care tools such as a bladder scanner, vein finder, urine refractometer, and more to assist in the assessment and care of our patients.
