About Our Medical Center

Our medical center serves as a prominent teaching hospital and is the central hub of the VA New York/New Jersey Health Care Network, catering to a large and varied population of Veterans in the greater New York area. The Practice Opportunity

As a Primary Care Physician, you will be part of a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and will oversee a panel of Veterans in an outpatient clinic environment. Your responsibilities will include providing care through in-person, video, telephone, and designated telework visits, addressing both routine and urgent primary care needs, prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and coordinating preventive health services. You will work closely with your PACT medical support assistant, LPN, and RN during team huddles, complete clinical reminders, and ensure timely documentation. Additional opportunities include supervising and mentoring internal medicine residents and medical students, collaborating with mid-level providers, and serving as a float provider across primary care, employee health, and Community Based Outreach Clinics as necessary. This role offers a fulfilling blend of clinical work, teaching, and the opportunity to positively impact the Veteran community.

RequirementsBasic Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens are unavailable.
• Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution.
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program, leading to eligibility for board certification, or qualifying alternate pathways as defined by VA standards.
• Proficient in both spoken and written English.

Conditions of Employment
