Then the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office may be the right place for you. We are currently accepting applications from licensed attorneys and from those who took the July 2026 bar exam. We also welcome applicants with prior experience in criminal law. Generally, we have our prosecutors begin in our misdemeanor section. Based on demonstrated ability and work ethic,advancement to felony work can occur more quickly for those with prior experience. Several experienced prosecutors have followed this path with excellent results. There are also some limited opportunities for lateral hiring. We have ample opportunities to assist appropriate defendants through a variety of specialty courts, but our primary focus is accountability for those who harm others.We prioritize victims first and take seriously our responsibility to impose meaningful consequences for those who hurt others or continue criminal activity. The starting salary for this position is $93,998, with opportunities to supplement that amount after your initial 90 days. County benefits are competitive, and details are available upon request.
