Director of Accounting

TwentyThree North is partnering with a PE-backed consumer products company to identify a Director of Accounting. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this individual will lead the accounting organization and oversee the integrity of the company's financial records, reporting processes, and accounting policies. This high-visibility role will partner closely with senior leadership, including daily interaction with the C-suite, and help build scalable accounting operations to support the company's continued growth. Key Responsibilities Direct the accounting function, establishing operating priorities, performance standards, and processes that support the company's financial and operational objectives. Oversee financial close and reporting activities, ensuring leadership receives reliable financial information to support business decisions and corporate planning. Review financial results and key accounting judgments, providing appropriate oversight of material balances, significant transactions, and financial statement presentation. Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including three direct reports, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Serve as a key accounting advisor to the Controller and executive leadership on financial reporting matters, accounting risks, and business initiatives with significant financial implications. Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards to promote consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization. Oversee the company's financial reporting controls and audit readiness, serving as a senior point of contact for external auditors and other relevant stakeholders. Evaluate existing accounting workflows, systems, and organizational structure to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, stronger oversight, and improved scalability. Collaborate with FP&A and other business leaders to explain financial performance, resolve reporting discrepancies, and improve the quality of management reporting. Provide accounting leadership for acquisitions, business integrations, and other strategic initiatives, assessing financial reporting implications and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred but not required. Big Four or other public accounting experience highly preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience managing an accounting function. Prior experience leading accounting teams, developing accounting professionals, and managing competing priorities. Strong command of US GAAP, financial statement preparation, and accounting policy application. Experience overseeing financial close, reporting, and audit processes in a complex or multi-entity organization. Demonstrated ability to evaluate internal controls, identify accounting risks, and implement process improvements. Proficiency with ERP and financial reporting systems; NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a high-growth environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr TwentyThree North
