Job Description The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and administrative tasks under the direction of a physician, nurses, and other medical staff. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, managing provider schedules, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, collecting medical histories, and preparing patients for examination. MAs are responsible for Point of Care testing including finger sticks, urine collection, EKGs, PFTs (Pulmonary Function Test), etc. Other tasks include answering patient inquiries, portal messages, and phone calls. Disinfecting, cleaning, and maintaining all exam rooms and work areas. Organizing and tracking all supplies for clinical and administrative purposes. Skills Actively Listening Computer Literacy Effective communication Empathy Explaining Medical Information in an understandable language Medical Coding Multitasking Organization Performing EKGs and PFTs Preparing patients for Exams Performing accurate assessment of vital signs Problem solving Teamwork Qualifications 1+ Years of experience working in healthcare Familiar with medical terminology Excellent Interpersonal Skills Must be detail oriented and highly organized Must be able to always maintain confidentiality Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
