Business Overview: Tell us about your department: Engagement Platform team is tasked with bringing new technologies to life for Bestbuy.com’s View Architecture. We are building out a Federated GraphQL Platform to connect front end experiences with backend domain microservices. Aiming to radically improve the way BestBuy uses data. We strive to empower experience creators by leveraging GraphQL at scale. Allowing our customers to create the best experiences for our customers by leveraging data in interesting ways.

Project Description: Engineer will join sprint team and deliver on feature roadmap.

Position Summary/Job Description: Use GraphQL to solve complex problems at scale. Create effective tooling to empower developers to quickly leverage Best Buy data. Join a team of highly skilled, collaborative, and energetic engineers working on the Engagement Platform. Develop new solutions that makes development faster and easier for both front end experience teams as well as domain data providers. Mentor and coach junior developers. Provide expertise in software development lifecycle phases, including concept, design, testing and deployment. Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to solve problems of a top 5 e-commerce website. Develop software using current and leading-edge programming languages and technologies. Share and champion ideas that evolve how we build our software product.

How much time will the resource spend pair programming? 50-75%, Pair programming is encouraged.

Skills Overview: What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job? 3+ years of experience writing software applications for large-scale, distributed web or service-oriented environments. 3+ years of experience producing and/or consuming REST web services. 3+ years of experience in NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, ReactJS. 2+ years of experience developing automated unit tests using Jest or Mocha/Chai or equivalent. An interest in GraphQL or related technology.

What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for? Experience with consuming GraphQL services. Experience designing and building GraphQL services. Experience with the Apollo Server. Experience with working with Federated GraphQL services. Using the Apollo Federation specification.
