Speech Language Pathologist

Position Overview Part time role, 16 hours per week. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education by providing speech and language therapy services and specialized support that helps students improve their communication and learning skills. Essential Functions Identify students needing specialized speech or language services and support them with solutions that enable them to thrive in a learning environment and achieve academic goals. Facilitate individual and/or group therapy activities using curriculum‑based materials and content and provide progress reports and documentation as needed. Supervise support staff as needed and consult with fellow educators regarding accommodations, instructional strategies, necessary equipment and support. Provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language disorders. Create a classroom and learning environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best. Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth needed for primary school success. Explore individual needs and provide side‑by‑side support to discover how each student best learns, developing personalized solutions to each student’s learning style and abilities. Master the proven curriculum as you implement the philosophy of education and guide students toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Encourage students to uphold values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives. Respond to all internal and external customers promptly, efficiently, friendly and patiently. Maintain courteous relationships with students, staff, parents, and community, treating all with respect. Be active in the role, lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout campus and traveling to other campuses as required. Participate in events outside of normal hours. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master’s or higher degree in the field of speech-language pathology. Meeting state requirements: South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) SLP License and SCDE SLP Educator Certificate. Must pass a criminal history background check. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence – SLP. Hybrid Model The model follows a four‑day on‑campus, one‑day remote work schedule. Remote days must be approved by the principal in advance, are limited to non‑student facing work such as report writing and compliance documentation, and must not interfere with testing, IEP meetings, or urgent student needs. Other Requirements Physical demands include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasionally lifting equipment or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds. Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods, see and read a computer screen and printed material (with or without vision aids), hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone, speak in audible tones, and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
