The ideal candidate has a background in electrical or computer engineering with strong programming skills and can perform at a high level in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing facility. This person shall be comfortable supporting manufacturing processes on the production floor. As a Controls Engineer you will be addressing production issues alongside quality, manufacturing, and maintenance teams. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain and improve existing production processes by using continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques.What You'll Do Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC based control systems and associated componentsElectrical troubleshooting and testing of controls systems, control panels, and associated equipmentDiagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipmentDevelop innovative solutionsDesign and deploy intuitive user interface displaysPropose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipmentEffectively lead and support the installation, start-up, maintenance, and operation of automation systemsSupport and actively interact with manufacturing and quality groupsContinuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safetyYour Skills & Abilities (Preferred Qualifications):Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent working experience5+ years of experience with industrial automation or controls systemsWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Required Qualifications):Relevant auto industry experience and/or high-volume manufacturingAreas of expertise: Manufacturing, Assembly Process, Laser Welding, Braze Welding, Plastic Welding, Molding, Machining, Induction HeatingExperienced in electrical safety and standardsExperience building new equipmentWell versed in functional machine safetyAllen Bradley / Rockwell Automation control platform experienceMachine vision experience – Cognex, KeyenceRobotic experience – FanucAdditional control platform experience: Siemens, B&R, OmronAdditional programming experience: Python, SQLSCADA/MES experienceAdvanced understanding of Ethernet networksCompensation:The expected base compensation for this role is: $106,600 - $163,400 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential:An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.Benefits:GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
