Food Production Assistant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:A member of the Chicago's Community Kitchens (CCK) Team who supports the production, packaging, and distribution of prepared meals for our community. The Food Production Assistant helps to maintain food safety and sanitation, as well as occupational safety in the kitchen.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Food Prep – adhere to food safety and recipe guidelines to safely prepare food items; ensure compliance with HACCP and sanitation proceduresMeal Packaging – maintain consistency and quality of prepared meals; guarantee IDA compliance and safe manufacturing procedures at all timesSanitation Management – keep a clean workstation and assist the sanitation team as neededInventory Control – assist with receiving and management of FIFO, along with detailed organization of storage areasOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchenFood Handler Sanitation Certification or ability to pass test for certificationAbility to push, pull, and lift equipment and food containers that weigh up to 50 poundsMust be organized and detail-orientedAbility to take direction and feedbackBasic computer skillsAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamHigh energy and motivated, with a positive attitudeAbility to problem solveExposure:Commercial kitchen environment, including freezer/refrigerator temperaturesWarehouse exposure as neededWalking/standing for long periods of time, up to 4 hours at a timeBenefits• Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage• Employer-paid life and disability insurance• Employee Assistance Program• 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution• Generous paid time off• Parental leave• On-site gym• $3,000 annual employer-paid ThrivePass lifestyle and wellness benefit program• $250 employee referral bonus #J-18808-Ljbffr Greater-Chicago-Food-Depository
