POSITION PURPOSE

  Responsible for the setting up, cleaning, servicing and maintenance of banquet equipment, function rooms and related service areas, ensuring guest satisfaction, the achievement of company standards, safety policies and profit maximization.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review the BEO and day work assignments with supervisor.

1. Assign and direct the set-up duties relative to preparing for functions.
2. Assist house persons in physical set-up, cleaning and arrangement of tables, chairs and equipment according to BEO specifications while adhering to standards of job safety.
3. Monitor and ensure all SOPs, policies, procedures and regulations are followed while supervising and performing duties and guest-related activities.
4. Inspect all function rooms - check each room for completeness.  
5. Receive and issue packages for guests for related functions.
6. Properly maintain, store and secure all banquet equipment.
7. Other duties as assigned by the banquet manager and captain.

  RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive vehicles for pick-up and return of rented/borrowed items and for outside functions. 
• Assist banquet servers as needed. 
• Complete work orders on any damaged equipment for repair. 
• Serve on one of the hotel's committees. 
• Local travel only. 
• Hours: Flexible; scheduled days and times may vary based on need. 
• Chemicals/Agents used: cleaning agents for silver, stainless steel and floor surfaces. 
• Operate coffee machine, ice machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner.

  EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years food & beverage serving experience and/or high-volume banquet serving experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Able to read, write and speak English.
• Possess leadership skills. 
• Excellent hearing is necessary to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, guests.
• Excellent vision necessary to ensure rooms are cleaned, set-up according to BEO.
• Excellent verbal skills are necessary to communicate with supervisors, co-workers and guests.
• Excellent literacy is necessary to read and understand instructions on BEOs.
• Bending/kneeling - ability to bend to lower-level cabinets and lift trays. 
• Mobility - maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests.  
• Continuous standing required to service guest functions; 100% of the time scheduled. 
• Climbing sometimes 12 steps 20% of 8 hours. 
• Required to have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.  

SUPERVISION

Position functions (enter autonomously, semi-autonomously, or with supervision). From time to time three to fifteen employees. 

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Lifting trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc. - 20 - 40 lbs.
• Pushing carts, Queen Marys, hotbox, portable bar - 50 - 100 lbs.
• Carrying trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc. - 20 - 40 lbs.
• Standing/walking for long periods of the shift.  

UNIFORM REQUIREMENT  

Protective clothing: slip resistant footwear worn approximately 100% of scheduled shift. 

A uniform will be provided, employees are responsible for maintaining a clean/crisp looking uniform.
