Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 18 months of PCU experience and a NC or compact RN license. Location: Charlotte, North Carolina Start Date: Sep 14, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Details Work on a combined MedSurg/Progressive Care unit with 10 MedSurg beds and 10 Progressive beds Care for patients with heart failure, chest pain, r/o stroke, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, DKA, and interventional patients on titratable drips RN staffing ratios of 1:5-6 for MedSurg and 1:3-4 for PCU No dedicated telemetry monitoring/tech support Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours per week Weekend rotation required every other weekend No on-call requirements Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed and within scope of practice Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, Insulin, blood products, and IVF Epic EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide direct patient care across a mixed MedSurg and Progressive Care patient population, including titratable drip management Facility is a 207-licensed-bed hospital designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center with no trauma designation and not a teaching hospital Supported by CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, and intensivist coverage Unit culture emphasizes teamwork Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays RTO allows up to 6 days off (excluding holidays); additional time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met Schedule follows a 6-week cycle Navy scrub color required Free parking available First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit; local candidates are not accepted Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before being eligible to return These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates. Pay $1,941/wk Weekly Wages $648/wk Regular Hours $18.00 x 36 hours/wk = $648 Weekly Stipends $1,293/wk Lodging $116.68 x 7 days = $817 Meals & Incidentals $68.00 x 7 days = $476 In compliance with state pay transparency laws, we disclose that the estimated weekly pay range for this role is $1,769 - $1,941. The weekly pay shown in this posting, along with related figures, reflects the lower end of this range for local candidates and higher end of this range for travel candidates. Weekly travel pay includes tax-free stipends per IRS guidelines. Weekly local pay is fully taxable and therefore lower due to additional employer-paid taxes and related costs.
