Job Summary
Medical Surgical (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) Days Deaconess Gateway. This position involves providing comprehensive patient care on a 32-bed Medical Surgical unit within a teaching hospital setting. The role requires strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis on collaboration with support staff and adaptability to unit needs.

Job Details

• Shift: Days shift, 12 hours (6:30 AM 7:00 PM), minimum of 36 hours per week
• Position Type: Contract, 13 weeks with possible extension
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact nursing license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS), NIH Stroke Scale certification, Associate Degree or Certificate, minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience, recent EPIC charting experience, valid minimum of 2 years' experience in trauma level II setting and at least one travel assignment, working within a hospital environment with a team of LPNs and CNAs
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PIV insertion, complex medication management (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), strong clinical assessment skills
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with rotating weekends three out of six weeks and holiday coverage every other holiday
• Additional Information: The candidate must be comfortable floating within skillset and to different units, with a possible requirement to precept students or new hires. Covid-19 vaccination is not mandated at this time, subject to change. The unit supports excellent teamwork and requires resilience and adaptability from its nurses.
