The Ultrasound Tech performs health care services utilizing Ultrasound to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease states. Performs general ultrasound procedures and uses related techniques, producing images for interpretation by the Radiologist. Maintains appropriate records as required by regulatory and accreditation agencies. Performs required equipment quality control procedures and reports deficiencies to supervisor.

Duties include preparing room, equipment, contrast media and materials as needed for procedures, maintaining clean and stocked procedure room on a daily basis, properly checking equipment daily, preparing patient for procedure, sending images to PACS appropriately, performing general clerical, file room, and transportation duties when needed, practicing patient care according to ARMC policy, considering age-related factors in obtaining images or performing diagnostic or therapeutic imaging studies, regularly accepting additional work during period of low patient activity, demonstrating a willingness to assist others within the department as requested, assisting Radiologists during procedures and taking films as requested, being knowledgeable in proper sequence of scheduling exams for entire department, knowing and maintaining the measurements described in the Universal Protocol policy, charging procedures in RadNet accurately and immediately after procedure is performed, demonstrating knowledge and competency in ultrasound procedures, obtaining and correctly documenting verbal and telephone orders per facility policy, rotating to other imaging departments as needed, participating in holiday and on-call rotation requirements, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications requirements include education of minimum of associate degree in radiography or sonography from CAAHEP approved school of ultrasound, one-year experience preferred, registry by ARDMS, and BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment).
