Emergency Veterinarian - Carolina Veterinary Specialists

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarian to join our team at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Huntersville, North Carolina. The role involves providing high‑quality veterinary care in a 24‑hour emergency and critical care setting, working closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff under the supervision of the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintaining accurate medical records Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluating and monitoring protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge Monitoring cases and attending daily rounds to ensure highest standards Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels Performing other duties as assigned by Management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university Current State Veterinary License DEA registration must be obtained and maintained Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary emergency practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to compassionate and high‑quality veterinary care Effective communication with both clients and hospital staff Client communication skills: eliciting information, establishing rapport, offering explanations Confidence and reassurance when dealing with stressed, ill, or painful animals Physical stamina for tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Capability to perform moderately physically demanding work Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced clinical knowledge: cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological examinations and appropriate treatment prescription Problem‑solving ability to address challenges in high‑quality veterinary hospital management Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff Professionalism and capacity to provide and receive constructive feedback Business acumen: understanding of veterinary hospital management and finances Ethical judgment in patient‑care decisions Commitment to continuing education and facilitating learning for others Pay Range

$130,000 - $175,000 USD
