Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care for a patient or assigned group in Labor & Delivery according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, perform assessments, administer medications, support labor and delivery, and provide postpartum education and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, neonatal, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff, exercise professional and supervisory discretion, and maintain a safe, efficient unit flow.
- Document assessments, interventions, progress notes, and care plans with accuracy and timeliness; ensure compliance with policies and patient safety standards.
- Float Pool note: This department includes education and non-productive hours for Float Pool nurses. Float Pool nurses working a unit should clock in to the unit being worked.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (good standing)
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (RN)
- BLS certification required; additional obstetric-specific certifications or training as applicable
- Experience in labor and delivery or obstetric care preferred
- Ability to work in an acute-care inpatient setting and participate in a 12-hour night shift schedule
- Strong critical thinking, judgment, and collaboration skills; effective documentation and communication abilities
