Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Unit Information

The PCU unit is a fast-paced and challenging environment specializing in cardiac care, accommodating a high acuity patient population.

Number of Beds: 20
Number of Staff: 40
Staff Composition: RNs and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Patient Ratios: 1:4

Daily Staffing Structure

Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Nurses, 3 PCTs
Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Nurses, 2 PCTs

Equipment and Technology

Tele and Transport Monitors
Suction Devices
Feeding Pumps
Tracheostomy Care
Bipap and Cpap Machines
Heated High-Flow Oxygen
Chest Tubes
Foley Catheters
Pacer Wires/Pacers
IV Pumps

Qualifications

Required Skills

Minimum 1 year of current PCU experience
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Certification

Preferred Skills

Extensive Neuro Experience
Cardiac Experience

Typical Procedures Performed

Chest Tube Placement and Removal
Removal of Pacer Wires
12-lead EKGs
Administration of Drips such as Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, and Nitro
