Design Hire is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join a growing accounting firm in Gilbert, AZ. This individual will manage day-to-day accounting activities, including bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, account reconciliations, and financial reporting while supporting multiple clients and business accounts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently in a small, collaborative office environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of accounting responsibilities and working closely with business owners and team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
  
• Process payroll, maintain accurate employee and payroll records, and assist with payroll tax reporting and related filings.
  
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure accurate reporting.
  
• Complete month-end closing activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements, including profit and loss reports.
  
• Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple clients or business entities while supporting administrative functions, process improvements, and daily office operations.
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial operations experience preferred.
  
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop or Enterprise.
  
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  
• Hands-on experience with payroll processing, payroll taxes, and sales and use tax filings.
  
• Understanding of month-end close processes, financial reporting, and basic accounting principles.
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Experience with Google Workspace is a plus.
  
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and competing priorities.
  
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, dependable approach. Experience in a public accounting firm and professional bookkeeping or payroll certifications are a plus.
