SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is a key member of a branch team that assists the Branch Manager in the overall management of the branch. The ABM supports efforts to maximize revenue, sales, customer satisfaction, minimize operational losses, ensures compliance of operational and security procedures, deepens existing relationships, and reduces customer attrition. It is also responsible for administering and coordinating sales and service activities, promotional campaigns, and product initiatives of their assigned branch. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists the Branch Manager in leading the branch to achieve sales goals, including outbound calling, sales meetings, and coaching. Supervises designated staff members in their daily performance of assigned tasks, impacting decisions on personnel regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary, transfers, and termination. Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Gold Service Standards. Performs all functions of SR FSR, opens new deposit accounts, and fully understands the financial services offered by the bank. Handles sales, stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits. Processes all loan applications (within lending authority) and paperwork, extending credit to qualified individuals and businesses through various installment, commercial, and real estate products. Assists in the collection of delinquent loans and manages loan and deposit exceptions. Responsible for the branch’s security procedures and understands the function and operations of security devices. Provides leadership by setting an example for staff, personifies good customer relations, and effectively sells and cross‑sells. May resolve routine personnel problems and assists tellers in accurate balancing of daily work. Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, explaining policies and procedures and promoting additional services. Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, maintains adequate cash, inventory, and conduct self‑audits using the Branch Internal Control Review quarterly. Maintains a neat and professional personal appearance, orderly work area, and a sales‑culture environment. Understands and utilizes customer‑facing technology, enrolling customers in self‑service options. Accepts other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES Unquestionable ethics, integrity, and values. Highly professional with strong interpersonal skills. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, BA degree, and/or 2 years in Banking. Experience: Minimum 3 years as Customer Service/Sales/Branch Manager, strong organizational and supervisory skills, previous banking experience, and ability to analyze and solve problems. Knowledge: Excellent leadership, communication, planning, organizational, decision‑making, writing, training and oral presentation skills; customer service orientation, initiative, interpersonal abilities, and computer proficiency; proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be willing to travel for meetings and classes, stand and/or sit for long periods, effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports, and identify customers. WORK ENVIRONMENT Position is typically in an open lobby area with an individual workstation or private office, inside a cooled and heated facility, with access to a break room or restroom during breaks. TRAVEL Travel may be required to attend meetings and training as needed.
