Radiology Technologist (Relief)

Pay Range $43.92 - $65.44 per hour, based on experience. This position is within the OFNHP bargaining unit. Step placement is determined by years of experience. Shift Differentials Evening: $2.50/hr. Job Title General Radiologic and Procedure Technologist Reports To Radiology Manager Department Diagnostic Radiology Department Summary St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Imaging Departments perform X‑Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT exams in various locations, supporting the ED, OR, inpatient floors, and Family Birthing Center. Position Overview The General Radiologic and Procedure Technologist performs all radiographic studies and related procedures without direct supervision according to department and hospital guidelines. Operates imaging devices in the operating room, including portable and fixed fluoroscopy and portable radiography. No direct supervisory responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Performs general radiology examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols. Performs C‑arm cases in the OR including ortho/neuro spine surgeries, orthopedic trauma surgeries, pediatric orthopedic surgeries, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, retrograde pyelogram, and ureteral stent placements. Performs C‑arm cases in the Medical Diagnostic Unit such as ERCP, bronchoscopy, esophageal dilation, and colonic stent placements. Performs radiology procedures with interventional radiologist and RPA (gastric/jejunal tube placements, drainage or tube placements, dialysis catheter removals). Participates as a collaborative member of the radiology and procedure care teams, working directly with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals in diagnostic testing procedures, fluoroscopy, trauma, and surgery. Prepares patient for procedures by explaining the procedure in a clear, comforting manner. Prepares for sterile and non‑sterile procedures and maintains a sterile field, conducts necessary preparations of the patient procedure room, and documents when appropriate. Assists clinicians with procedures, operates all special procedure equipment, and can select and modify technical factors as needed; acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures. Positions patients properly to obtain the best image while providing a calm and caring demeanor, using proper positioning and placement protocols to ensure images are taken in accordance with provider directions. Takes preventive steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation and follows health and safety policies and procedures. Recognizes, reports, and records observations and care provided in compliance with St. Charles Health System policies and regulatory agencies. Cleans equipment and helps identify need for maintenance. Assists with quality control/performance improvement measures and statistics as requested. Performs clerical duties, transports patients as required, and maintains proper inventory of supplies. Participates in student training program as requested. Participates in on‑call or standby as requested. Competent skills working with PACS, EMR, and teleradiology system. Provides coverage General Radiology in Bend including on‑call coverage, holiday, and weekend relief as needed. Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects. Education Graduate of a certified radiologic technology training program; current licensure and certification required. Preferred: None. Licensure / Certification / Registration Required: Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiologic Technology (RT) certification, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification (or must obtain within 6 months upon hire). Preferred: ARRT credential in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Bone Densitometry (BD), Mammography (MAM), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI). Experience Required: N/A. Preferred: One (1) year experience in diagnostic radiography and one (1) year experience with C‑arm and portable x‑ray equipment. Physical Requirements Continually (≥75%): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, clear speaking voice, and hearing normal speech level. Frequently (≈50%): Sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 1–25 pounds. Occasionally (≈25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 25–50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, and hearing whispered speech level. Rarely (≈10%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs. Never (0%): Climbing ladder/stepstool, operation of a motor vehicle.
