Patient Care Associate-PCA - Surgical (PT, Nights)

Job Summary Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Position Details Position Title: Patient Care Associate Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO Department: Surgical Status: Part-Time, minimum 8 hours per week Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:30pm – 7:00am) Qualifications Experience: None required. If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175‑hour training program that meets state requirements. Must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position. Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, or a current co‑worker of Mercy. Preferred Education: CNA/CPTC or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, or a current co‑worker of Mercy. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or successful completion of course within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire. Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Minimum Physical Requirements: Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Prolonged standing and walking each shift. Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties. Why Mercy?
