WellSpan Health is seeking an experienced Paramedic for a 13-week travel assignment supporting Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The Paramedic will respond to EMS calls and provide emergency and urgent medical care to patients experiencing illness or injury, operating within applicable Pennsylvania Department of Health EMS regulations, the PA EMS Act, and established protocols/scope of practice .

The assignment will primarily cover York County and Shrewsbury County and requires a strong field EMS background with the ability to independently assess, stabilize, treat, and transport patients in emergency situations.

Candidates should be comfortable managing medical emergencies, trauma, cardiac events, respiratory emergencies, neurological conditions, behavioral emergencies, pediatric patients, and emergency childbirth .

Important: This is a field EMS/ambulance position , not a hospital-based Paramedic role.

• Respond to emergency and urgent EMS calls within the assigned service area.
• Perform rapid patient assessments and determine appropriate emergency interventions.
• Provide treatment and stabilization according to PA EMS protocols and scope of practice.
• Operate and safely navigate an ambulance during emergency and non-emergency transports.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status.
• Perform airway management, oxygen administration, and emergency respiratory interventions.
• Assist with or perform intubation and management of airway obstructions as permitted by scope and protocol.
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and recognize/manage dysrhythmias.
• Provide cardioversion, defibrillation, and cardiac-arrest management.
• Manage patients experiencing chest pain and suspected STEMI.
• Establish and maintain IV access and administer emergency medications.
• Perform phlebotomy and intraosseous access/infusion when clinically indicated.
• Assess and treat trauma patients, including head injuries, spinal injuries, burns, penetrating trauma, drowning, and other emergency conditions.
• Apply splints and immobilization devices as appropriate.
• Control bleeding using tourniquets and pressure dressings.
• Perform wound care and other emergency procedures.
• Assess and treat diabetic emergencies, including hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
• Manage neurological emergencies including CVA/stroke and altered level of consciousness.
• Provide emergency care for pediatric patients.
• Assist with emergency births.
• Manage behavioral and psychiatric emergencies, including violent behavior when necessary and within protocol.
• Apply appropriate restraints when clinically indicated.
• Administer and/or assist with emergency medications, including Narcan.
• Follow infection-control precautions and appropriate PPE requirements.
• Complete accurate patient documentation and required electronic charting.
• Maintain ambulance equipment, supplies, and readiness according to EMS standards.

• Minimum 1 year of Paramedic experience
• Current Pennsylvania EMT/Paramedic state license
• NREMT certification

• Prior field/ambulance EMS experience strongly expected.
• Experience responding to urgent and emergent medical and trauma calls.
• Must be comfortable treating adult and pediatric patients.
• Must be comfortable operating an ambulance.
• Experience with cardiac emergencies, trauma, respiratory emergencies, neurological emergencies, behavioral health, and emergency childbirth.
• Epic experience required.
