Sales Manager

Company Description Rutland Lumber Co is a producer, manufacturer, and supplier of southern hardwood lumber, specializing in red oak, white oak, poplar, and ash. The company offers kiln-dried, air-dried, and green lumber used in moldings, millwork, furniture, cabinets, and flooring. Team members work closely with a diverse customer base that values quality materials and reliable supply for a wide range of wood products. Role Description The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Collins, MS. This position is responsible for leading and growing lumber sales by managing customer accounts, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with domestic and international clients. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing the sales pipeline, preparing quotes and proposals, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and coordinating with production, logistics, and finance teams to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. The Sales Manager will track market trends, analyze sales performance, and implement strategies to expand Rutland Lumber Co’s presence in key regions. This role also involves mentoring sales staff, setting performance goals, and representing the company at industry events and customer visits. Qualifications Strong sales, account management, and business development skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships. Experience in lumber, wood products, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors, with knowledge of hardwood species and common end uses. Proficiency in negotiation, pricing strategy, and contract management, including preparing quotes and closing deals effectively. Comfort with sales reporting, forecasting, and use of CRM or similar tools to manage pipelines and track performance. Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across operations and logistics teams. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching team members, setting clear objectives, and driving accountability. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment. High level of integrity, customer focus, and problem-solving capability when addressing service or quality issues. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal education. Willingness to work on-site in Collins, MS and travel as needed to visit customers, attend trade events, and support regional sales activities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
