Physical Therapist

VitalCore Health Strategies, (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Healthcare, has an opening for Full-Time Physical Therapist . This position will primarily work at our site in Lancaster, Massachusetts, but may also be required to travel to other facilities across the state. POSITION SUMMARY The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates and treats incarcerated patients who have lost function due to injury, illness, or disability as part of an interdisciplinary team. The patient population is diverse and often medically complex, keeping each day unique and engaging. PTs work directly one-to-one with patients, creating and executing individualized plans of care, and documenting their services in SOAP format. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Work within a correctional facility and travel to multiple facilities. Document encounters in patients' medical record as assigned. Ensure medical record documentation is in SOAP format, problem-oriented, and corresponds to the therapeutic order. Ensure all documentation is timed, legible, and signed. Observe patients for therapy evaluations, formulate treatment plans, and provide treatment. Analyze treatment plans utilizing various techniques, including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, functional training, and mechanical modalities. Document pertinent observations and logical conclusions to validate need for treatment. Use available in-house resource personnel for treatment and resolution of identified problems before utilizing off-site referrals. Provide treatment of disability, injury, and disease using different mechanisms. Demonstrate proper technique of patient management according to established policy and licensure requirements. Support standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures. Serve as a resource to other professional or non-professional personnel, providing instructions as needed. Attend medical staff meetings as required and provide monthly in-service education of staff as requested. Participate in monthly review of quality care and chart reviews as requested. Notify the Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator of schedule changes. Assist in arranging coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Perform other duties as requested by the Site Medical Director. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must possess a current, unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice and maintain knowledge of licensure laws and regulations. Must be fluent in the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding. Must be a supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and collaboration. Be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Be able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
