About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Compact license required Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Epic experience required Travel experience required Description: Locals are eligible for travel contracts if they have been separated from previous employment for at least 3 months. All facilities honor an active compact license. Candidates are required to have 2 years of experience in labor and delivery. First-time travelers are not accepted. Certifications required: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and ACLS preferred. Patient diagnoses include labor and preterm labor. The unit consists of 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Nurses circulate in OB-GYN, post-operative, pre-operative, and low-risk antepartum and labor delivery. Special procedures include the administration of blood and blood products, cardioversion/defibrillation, the use of cooling/warming blankets, and administering medication through epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. Nurses will attend all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries, and assist with GYN surgeries. There will be responsibilities related to couplet care, low-risk antepartum care, and transitional nursery. The staffing ratio will be 1:1 to 1:3. Floating to postpartum and NICU based on skill set is required. Daily patient age groups will encompass adolescents, infants, and adults. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. References will be required covering one year of experience. Hourly wage and additional details will be provided upon application. Completion of modules prior to start and annually is mandated.
