Portfolio Director, Retail - Connected Commerce

As Portfolio Director - Retail, you’ll have full strategic, commercial and operational leadership of a $100M global portfolio spanning Shoptalk Europe, Shoptalk Spring, Shoptalk Fall, Groceryshop and, in due course, Shoptalk Luxe. Reporting directly to the President, Connected Commerce, you’ll lead a global team of 80 colleagues and own the performance, profitability and long-term growth of the entire Retail portfolio. Your mandate is ambitious: take a highly successful $100M business and build it into a $150M global portfolio. You’ll set the vision and growth strategy, identify new opportunities for innovation and expansion, drive commercial excellence across the portfolio, and continue strengthening Shoptalk and Groceryshop’s position at the center of the global retail industry. This is a significant leadership role with real scale, visibility and impact. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Own the portfolio. Lead the global Retail portfolio with full P&L accountability and ownership of its commercial, digital and operational performance. Set the vision and growth strategy. Define and execute an ambitious global strategy that strengthens market leadership and delivers the portfolio’s next phase of sustainable growth. Drive commercial performance. Partner with Heads of and commercial leaders across the business to maximize every revenue stream, unlock new opportunities and consistently deliver against ambitious growth targets. Lead with financial discipline. Own forecasting, budgeting and long-term business planning, making smart investment decisions while proactively identifying opportunities and managing risk. Build and lead a world-class organization. Inspire high performance, develop exceptional talent and continually evolve the structure, capabilities and resources of an 80-person global team to support the portfolio’s ambitions. Be a leader in the industry. Serve as a senior external face of the portfolio, building influential relationships with leading retailers, brands, technology companies and strategic partners while staying ahead of the forces shaping global retail. Grow the community beyond the events. Champion year-round engagement, ensuring Shoptalk and Groceryshop continue to create meaningful value, connection and market-leading experiences for their global communities. Lead the integration of Shoptalk Luxe. When appropriate, oversee its successful transition back into the Retail portfolio, aligning teams, operating models, commercial strategy and customer proposition. A bit about you You’re an accomplished commercial leader who knows what it takes to lead a complex, global business at scale. You combine big-picture thinking with a bias for action, and you’re equally comfortable setting the strategy, owning the numbers, and bringing a global team with you. You’re energized by growth, passionate about customers and markets, and excited by the opportunity to build on an already successful business and take it somewhere even bigger. You’ll bring: Significant leadership experience with full P&L accountability for a complex, international business. A proven track record of delivering substantial commercial growth across multiple markets, products or brands. Experience building, leading and developing high-performing global teams within a matrixed organization. Strong commercial judgment and the ability to turn ambitious strategy into measurable results. Experience building and evolving market-leading brands, customer propositions and communities. The credibility and presence to influence at executive level and build strong relationships with senior customers, partners and stakeholders. Experience in B2B, media, events, information services or other relevant sectors is highly desirable. Willing to travel 65% of time (New York office, events, London HQ, etc.) Benefits Competitive compensation: Base salary of $250,000–$280,000 USD , plus a performance-based bonus.
