Receptionist (Office Support I)Reports to: PrincipalBeginning date: Open until filledKnowledge, skills, and abilities required:Ability to maintain composure in difficult situationsStrong verbal/written communication skills in EnglishConsiderable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and proofreadingAbility to compile and summarize informationAbility to plan, organize, and schedule variable tasksAbility to interact and communicate with staff and publicAbility to exercise good judgment, take initiative, and work with minimal supervisionTechnical skills required:Computer skills, FAX machine, printers, computer networking system, and photocopierEducation and training:High school diploma and two (2) years of related clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Term of employment: 10 monthsSalary: Salary Grade 55FLSA status: Non-ExemptPerformance responsibilities:Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly-run office.Assists with bookkeeping as directed by Principal.Types general letters, memos, and newsletters.Assists with welcoming visitors and routing all incoming calls.Other duties as assigned by the Principal and staff members.Physical requirements:Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walkingAbility to reach with hands and arms routinelyAbility to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materialsMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionallyMust be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drillsMust be able to tolerate a noisy, busy work environment with occasional very loud noisesMust possess sufficient auditory and visual capabilities to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and parents in a variety of settingsOnslow County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities.
