We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join an organization in Newport, Delaware in an on-site, contract-to-permanent capacity. This role supports core accounting operations by helping manage daily transactions, maintain accurate records, and contribute to timely month-end reporting. The position is well suited for an accounting specialist who is comfortable with reconciliations, financial review, and working across property-related accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily cash activity and help oversee controls designed to reduce payment and banking risk.

• Complete monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and organizing related documentation.

• Assist in producing monthly financial statements along with schedules that support reported balances.

• Analyze financial results and prepare variance reporting to highlight key changes and trends.

• Help track, maintain, and renew required business licenses to support ongoing operations.

• Provide accounting support for property-related activities and take on additional finance tasks as business needs evolve.

• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Strong background in account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis.
• Experience preparing journal entries and working within the general ledger.
• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an on-site environment.
