Summary Primary Purpose: GS 09/11: This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of Biological Scientist, GS-0401-12. Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document that is. GS12: Serves as an Environmental Biological Scientist with project management, executions, and operations responsibility in assigned project(s) within an environmental program element. - Provides extensive environmental expertise to manage assigned environmental projects or programs through application of professional knowledge and skill in Biological Scientist practices, processes and techniques.
- Responsible for executing assigned projects or program element(s), in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, state, and local environmental laws and policies.
- Provides advisory services on specific problems, projects, programs, and functions in assigned program area.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

- This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position. Category: Facilities Engineering (FE)GS-13 and below: Level II; GS-14/15 Level III. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the (CONT)
- Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA)certification requirements applicable to the (CONT)
- career category designated on the position description within 24 months of assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Leaming points every 24 months.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate driver's license maybe required for the position.
- May be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- May be required to obtain job-related certifications.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. (CONT)
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and through full resumption of all functions IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical/medical examination.
