Laboratory Technician 1

Laboratory Technician 1 – 2nd Shift Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30 PM We are seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician who will conduct laboratory testing including titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. The technician will follow safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level. Responsibilities Ensure that all tasks are performed within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures. Use results from test method(s) in calculations to further characterize the data (e.g., Cetane Index, Viscosity Index). Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of a sample preparation step for all required tests; when applicable load samples on automated instrumentation that has been validated following method quality requirements. Perform routine daily and/or weekly verifications and calibrations on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements. Some methods require a minimum Level 3 or 4 based on complexity and risk. Perform analysis on samples through direct testing (e.g., wet chemistry). The minimum level required varies with method complexity, safety risk, and quality risk. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation as required by the method. The minimum level required varies with task complexity, safety risk and quality risk. Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations. Perform sample preparation for multiple testing requirements. Perform housekeeping duties, including storage and disposal of client samples. Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods. Prepare and maintain standards and reagents; some standards require a minimum Level 2. Generate, accumulate, handle, work near, transport, and dispose of hazardous wastes; collect, store, and label any hazardous waste generated in compliance with ALS policy. Contribute to sample receipt process including opening packages, sorting mail and data entry. Participate in shift handovers to ensure smooth transition. Identify continuous improvement activities for the site. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Laboratory experience preferred. Physical Demands Ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working. Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co‑workers and managers. Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware. Average vision with adequate reading ability. Hearing and speech sufficient for in‑person and telephone communication.
