Electric Controls Engineer

Concentric Corporation is partnering with a respected engineering firm to hire an Electric Controls Engineer for their growing team. This individual will be based out of Ames, IA, working on impactful electrical controls projects primarily in the municipal water and wastewater industry.

This is an on-site role, ideal for a senior-level engineer who is passionate about design and eager to mentor junior engineers in a collaborative office environment. Candidates located in Iowa, Nebraska, or Minnesota are encouraged to apply, but relocation to Ames, IA, will be required.

What You'll Do:

• Lead electrical controls engineering projects from initial design through commissioning.

• Design electrical schematics for control panels, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and related wiring diagrams.

• Develop project-specific Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Create Control Narratives to document the intended functionality of each system.

• Interpret and follow detailed project plans and technical specifications.

• Provide technical support to the control panel shop during the manufacturing process.

• Ensure all project documentation complies with internal standards and client-specific requirements.

• Communicate with customers throughout the design, construction, and implementation phases.

• Serve as a mentor and leader to junior engineers within the Ames office.

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a project engineering role, including full project lifecycle (design, implementation, and closeout).

• Preferred but not required: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a 2-year Associate's Degree in Automation or a related field.

• Proficiency with electrical CAD software.

• Strong experience managing engineering projects from concept through completion.

• Proven ability to guide and mentor engineering team members.
