Activities Assistant

Location: Shady Nook | Lawrenceburg, IN

Shady Nook is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility in Lawrenceburg, IN. In this role, you will work under the direction of the Activities Director to provide engaging programs that promote the emotional, social, recreational, and spiritual well-being of our residents.

Position Details

• Status: Full-Time

• Schedule: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Every Other Weekend Required

Responsibilities

• Assist in meeting the emotional, recreational, and social needs of residents on an individual basis

• Help residents with activities of daily living such as writing letters, making phone calls, and registering to vote

• Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity attendance

• Assist with mail delivery, escorting residents to activities, caring for facility plants and pets, preparing the monthly newsletter, fundraising efforts, and making facility announcements

• Conduct and assist with activity programs that provide entertainment, exercise, relaxation, creative expression, and social interaction

• Provide residents with craft supplies, materials, and equipment while supervising activity participation

• Encourage residents to participate in crafts, painting, games, and other recreational activities that promote independence and engagement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Previous experience working in long-term care or with the elderly or disabled preferred

• Must be at least 18 years of age
