Engineer III (Electrical)(Engineering & Operations Support Department)PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. PowerSouth's member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida. PowerSouth's most important asset is a workforce of more than 560 men and women at nine PowerSouth locations. Safety is PowerSouth's number one core value, and its employees set the bar for safety excellence and have achieved an impressive safety record.JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the Engineering & Operations Division. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs facilities to be utilized in the generation, transmission, or distribution of electrical power to ensure members of a reliable power supply.Reviews and writes specifications for equipment used on PowerSouth's system to ensure PowerSouth equipment meets industry standards.Performs engineering calculations utilizing standard engineering formulas or computer techniques to ensure proper design and operation of PowerSouth's system.Completes special projects such as evaluating equipment or developing software to enable PowerSouth to be more efficient in the future.Responsible for ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting team work, group goals and objectives, proper communication and cooperation within the department, division, throughout the PowerSouth organization and with member systems.BENEFITS:Medical and Dental InsuranceVision InsurancePension Plan funded 100% by the company401(k) Plan with up to 5% employer match Group Life Benefits Short-Term and Long-Term DisabilityPaid HolidaysPaid Personal and Sick LeaveEducational AssistanceEmployment is subject to a negative drug screen, background check, and completion of a comprehensive application for employment.
