Senior General Ledger Accountant

Job Title Senior Accounting Position for Large Marine Transportation Company | 4+ month contract | SAP Location & Schedule Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote. Salary $40 - $65 per hour Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Conduct month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather financial data and provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes. Perform variance analysis and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance. Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, shareholders, and external auditors. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax filings as required. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting standards, recommending and implementing best practices.
