COINVEST FINANCE GROUPSignificant alignment with LPs has been one of the cornerstones of Bain Capital’s strategy since the firm was founded. This alignment is achieved through the firm’s extensive coinvest program, through which employees, collectively, have been, and continue to be among the largest investors in nearly every Bain Capital investment across all business units. The Bain Capital Coinvest Finance Group is a specialized team responsible for the operational, accounting, tax, reporting, and strategic support functions associated with the firm’s coinvest portfolio. With investments spanning the broader Bain Capital platform, the team has unique exposure across multiple investment strategies, business lines, and complex partnership structures. Members of the team regularly collaborate with colleagues of nearly every internal department in the company, including investment professionals from all business units, all internal finance departments, tax, legal, HR, compliance, and IT, as well as the firm’s outside advisors, including attorneys, banks, custodians, and accounting and tax professionals. We are looking to add two members to the Private Markets vertical of the Coinvest Group – a highly collaborative, approximately 10-person team operating within a broader 20+ person coinvest organization. The structure provides the opportunity to work closely with senior team members and leadership while maintaining meaningful ownership, visibility, and impact from day one.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Finance Manager will play a key leadership role within the Coinvest Finance Group, supporting the accounting, operational, tax, and strategic activities associated with Bain Capital’s coinvest partnerships. This individual will be expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy while partnering across teams and functions throughout the organization. The role is well suited for a technically strong and intellectually curious professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and is excited by the opportunity to contribute beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and analytical capabilities with sound business judgment, leadership presence, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic investment environment.This position offers:Broad exposure to Bain Capital’s global investment platform and senior stakeholders across the firmSignificant ownership of complex partnership structures and related finance processesLeadership opportunities within a lean, high-performing team environmentThe opportunity to drive operational innovation through technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutionsA dynamic role with long-term growth and development potential within one of the industry’s leading investment firmsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the accounting, operational, and financial oversight of various coinvest partnershipsManage operational and administrative activities of the partnerships, including cash management, capital calls, cash and stock distributions, custody processes, reconciliations, compliance reporting, and valuation reportingEvaluate and analyze complex investment transactions, partnership allocations, and accounting conclusions associated with evolving deal structures and liquidity eventsServe as a key point of coordination and partnership across internal teamsSupport investor facing activities including onboarding investors, policy administration, overseeing investor reporting, and responding to ad-hoc inquiriesIdentify opportunities to enhance processes, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency through technology, automation, AI tools, and scalable workflowsCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership on strategic initiatives, special projects, and the continued evolution of the Coinvest platformMentor and develop junior team members while contributing to broader team planning and leadership initiativesOversee partnership reporting deliverables and coordinate closely with internal and external tax advisors on annual tax reporting and related partnership mattersGENERAL QUALIFICATIONS6-8 years accounting experience in financial services, with strong exposure to investment partnerships, private equity, asset management, hedge funds, or alternative investmentsBackground in public accounting, asset management audit, tax, or partnership accounting preferredStrong understanding of partnership structures, allocations, and investment operationsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high attention to detailDemonstrated leadership capability, including experience mentoring or managing team membersExcellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and organization skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organizationHigh degree of professionalism, accountability, and ownershipEntrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive initiatives forwardInterest in process improvements, operational optimization, and leveraging technology to improve workflows and scalabilityCapable of handling highly confidential and sensitive informationAdvanced Excel skills requiredFamiliarity with AI tools and technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude) and a willingness to explore and adopt emerging AI solutionsDESIRED BACKGROUND/EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related fieldCPA and/or Master’s Degree preferredCompensation:Expected Annual Base Salary $130,000 – 150,000Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
