JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Operations is responsible for driving the successful execution of projects on time and on budget with client satisfaction. This position is responsible for providing leadership and operational support to the operations department. The Director of Operations is responsible for the performance of the region’s client satisfaction, deliverables, timing, quality, and financial performance.
Travel is typically regional, but may extend to the entire state, and may account for up to 20% of the work week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning projects, expediting work results
- Facilitate the successful handoff of projects from the development process to the delivery process and upon completion from the delivery process.
- Communicate and validate expectations of major partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Manage performance in a dynamic environment. Adjust workloads and resource commitments of the Project Management team.
- Provide monthly feedback and alignment of financial commitments, address any risks or opportunities within the existing backlog.
- Verify Project Managers are following the contractual agreements and schedules of value, billing timely and collecting on work performed.
- Maintains workflow by studying methods; implementing cost reductions; and developing and continuously improving operational processes.
- Recommends process improvements and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record keeping systems, forms control, budgetary and personnel requirements; always implementing positive and efficient changes.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Offer guidance and opportunities to Project Managers so that they may become best in class.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Construction or similar technical field
- 10-years’ experience in construction field preferred
- Reliable, effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment with changing and/or competing priorities
- Technical aptitude and detail-oriented
- Experience with building codes and construction testing services
- Fluent with Procore and Microsoft office programs
- A valid driver’s license is required for travel related to job duties with a reliable vehicle.
- Must be able to pass Pennsylvania’s strict background
IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position will be performed in an office setting and at active construction sites with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role involves walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders, and operating around heavy machinery. The noise level is typically loud, and the employee may be exposed to dust, debris, and hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety vests, and steel-toed boots must be worn as required.
This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work hours may include early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends depending on project timelines. Travel to various job sites within Pennsylvania is required.
