Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and surgical teams Obtain prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling process Communicate with surgeons, OR staff, and facility personnel to confirm case details and logistics Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre‑op instructions Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance prior to procedures Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and orthopedic/spine surgical protocols Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator, preferably in orthopedics or spine Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical terminology and procedures Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail Excellent communication and patient‑facing interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, fast‑paced clinical environment High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or healthcare certification a plus About Us Vital Orthopedic & Spine Institute is a leading orthopedic and spine specialty practice serving the Fort Lauderdale community with a commitment to cutting‑edge surgical care and outstanding patient outcomes.
