Ability to supervise staff, plan and organize work, schedule, train, direct, and review the work of others. Ability to assist supervisors in departmental or organizational development. Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Google Apps (Google Docs and Sheets), and database applications Understanding of payroll and personnel procedures, rules, and regulations. Ability to interpret and apply University, federal and state law requirements, international visa requirements and procedures, and an understanding of collective bargaining agreements. Ability to apply an understanding of University payroll and human resources functions. Ability to develop and implement effective strategies for problem resolution. To thrive in the role HR Manager, you will excel in overseeing HR administration by aligning strategies with UA's objectives, setting clear goals, and ensuring compliance. Mentor and supervise staff for service excellence and continuous improvement, while providing expert support in conflict resolution and employee relations. Drive recruitment efforts, ensuring adherence to processes and retention policies, and coordinate with higher authorities for faculty hires and visa applications. Actively participate in training initiatives, fostering a culture of learning and development, and remain flexible to handle additional responsibilities as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Three years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred. Position Details: This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
