General Maintenance

To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.

1. Help perform repairs in the facilities owned or operated by the district
2. Make repairs to facilities as needed when assigned by Maintenance Director.
3. Helps perform ground maintenance duties as required and supervise any part-time workers.
4. Helps keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
5. Examine district owned facilities and equipment when required for purpose of preventive maintenance.
6. Assist with snow removal during the winter months.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certificates/ Licenses

• Valid Missouri driver license with no restrictions
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills and Abilities

Must have the ability to read and understand written instruction and to communicate verbally with other district employees.

Must have the ability to solve practical problems and follow directions as given.

The individual must have the ability and knowledge to operate a tractor and landscaping equipment. Also, must have the ability to operate riding or power mowers, power tools, and hand tools.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to handle tools or controls.

The employee must have the ability to communicate effectively with other district employees. For safety reasons, must have the ability to hear the activity surrounding them while completing their job duties.

Specific vision requirements include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. For safety reasons, must have the ability to see the activity surrounding them while completing their job duties.

The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 100 lbs.

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work both outdoors and indoors. There will be occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, hot and cold, dependent upon the season. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will frequently work alone, and will occasionally work irregular or extended hours. The noise level of the work environment is occasionally loud. Frequent travel between district properties is required.

12 months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Staff.
