POSITION: Lead Accountant (Global Law Firm)

LOCATION: New York, NY (Hybrid schedule – 2 days in office)

COMPENSATION: Salary up to $145k, plus bonus(es), paid OT, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), etc.

Overview For Lead Accountant

Join a leading global law firm as a Lead Accountant supporting the Firm’s tax activities, including US and international partnership taxation, partner tax compliance, fixed asset accounting, and year-end audit activities. This is a collaborative, hybrid role with only 2 days in the office , offering eligibility for overtime and a strong focus on work-life balance and a supportive team environment . The role reports to the Tax Compliance Manager and offers the opportunity to work closely with internal teams and external tax service providers while managing a variety of tax and accounting responsibilities.

Responsibilities For Lead Accountant

• Prepare and review workpapers for the Firm’s annual audit and related US partnership tax return
• Complete supporting tax filings for international partnership tax requirements and conduct first-level review of partnership tax returns and Schedule K-1s
• Calculate state and federal quarterly tax estimates, including payment vouchers, and maintain regular reconciliations of tax reserve accounts
• Maintain fixed asset schedules for US and international offices, including additions, disposals, tax gain or loss calculations, and monthly tax depreciation entries
• Prepare partner tax letters and K-1s, and assist with US non-resident tax returns and partner-related compliance documentation
• Complete and review indirect tax returns and 1099 forms across multiple jurisdictions
• Own the annual tax information request process, maintain the Firm’s tax authority notice log, support responses to tax authorities, and contribute to special projects and process improvements

Qualifications For Lead Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
• CPA candidate required ; candidates with a Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting will also be strongly considered
• 4+ years of professional tax experience, ideally in a public accounting or law firm environment
• Experience with partnership or flow-through taxation required
• Experience with international taxation preferred but not required
• Working knowledge of fixed assets, depreciation methods, useful lives, and special depreciation allowances
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid working environment
