POSITION: Core Prep Operator
LOCATION: Milwaukie, OR

PAY RATE: $22.78

BBSI is currently accepting applications for a Core Prep Operator for our aerospace manufacturing client in SE Portland. The Core Prep Operator prepares and repairs soluble and ceramic cores used in the wax molding process. This role involves hands-on work with small tools, wax, measuring equipment, and inspection tools to make sure cores meet quality and dimensional requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Clean, repair, and modify complex soluble and ceramic cores.
• Remove surface imperfections and repair damaged areas using hand tools and wax.
• Fill holes, voids, and other defects and reshape cores to the required dimensions.
• Use measuring tools and fixtures to check dimensions and quality.
• Follow technique cards, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Inspect finished work and make corrections as needed.
• Prepare and seal patterns for the leach tank process.
• Remove and repair chill locator holes using wax and other tools.
• Apply stickers, paint, and sealants as required.
• Assist with leach tank operations and tank recharging when needed.
• Work independently while maintaining safety and quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Manufacturing experience preferred, especially in aerospace, automotive, or plastics.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
• 6 months–1 year of experience using basic measuring tools preferred.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
• Willingness to complete hazardous materials and confined-space training if required.

NON NEGOTIABLE : Must be able to present either a valid US Passport or certified US birth certificate for ITAR compliance.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires attention to detail, patience, and the ability to work with small tools and materials to produce high-quality parts.
