Sourcing Analyst

| The Sourcing Analyst supports the University's strategic sourcing function by providing data-driven analysis that informs sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, and institutional spend management. Under the direction of the Senior Sourcing Manager, this entry-level position is responsible for evaluating competitive proposal financial data, developing commodity-level Consumer Price Index (CPI) trend analyses and market forecasts, and performing a broad range of analytical and administrative functions in support of the Sourcing team. The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative skills with an interest in higher education procurement, sourcing and supply chain economics. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Skills and Knowledge * Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel - pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charting, and data modeling, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Minitab. * Supply Chain Software: SAP ERP, Oracle Fusion, Peoplesoft, Cobblestone. * Functional: Project Management, Supply Chain Planning, Inventory Management. * Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills with the ability to interpret financial and economic data. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present analysis clearly to non-technical stakeholders. * High attention to detail and accuracy in data management and documentation. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. * Professional experience in procurement, supply chain, finance, or a related analytical role (internships accepted). * Certification: APICS, Lean Six Sigma, Power BI. Responsibilities Proposal & Financial Data Analysis * Review and evaluate supplier proposal pricing, cost breakdowns, and fee structures submitted in response to formal solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs). * Develop total cost of ownership (TCO) models and price comparison matrices to support supplier selection and award recommendations. * Identify pricing anomalies, outliers, or non-conforming proposal elements and prepare summary findings for the Sourcing Manager. * Assist in compiling cost/price analysis documentation required for procurement files and compliance reporting. CPI Commodity Trend Analysis & Market Forecasting * Monitor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) CPI datasets and other public economic indices to track price movements across assigned commodity categories. * Develop periodic commodity market reports featuring historical trend analysis, current pricing benchmarks, and 6-18-month price forecasts. * Correlate macroeconomic indicators (inflation, fuel costs, labor indices) with university spend data to project contract cost escalation and inform budget planning. * Present analytical findings to the Sourcing Manager in clear, actionable summary formats including dashboards, charts, and written briefings. * Develop a commodity trends database and ensure timely updates in alignment with contract renewal schedules. Global Supply Chain Market Forecasting * Coordinate supplier communications, document requests, and pre-bid/pre-proposal meetings as directed. * Conduct spend analysis using the university's ERP and eProcurement systems, identifying consolidation and savings opportunities. Sourcing Manager Support * Assist in the preparation and administration of competitive solicitations, including drafting evaluation criteria, pricing schedules, and bid tabulations. * Assist with university procurement policy compliance reviews and audit preparation activities.
