Hiring Department UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center, part of the Division ofStudent Affairs Job Description The UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center is looking for a PartTime Nurse Practitioner to join our team and continue our practiceof providing quality health and mental health services to ourdiverse student population. This position will support students inthe evaluation, diagnoses and treatment of acute and chronicconditions. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patient, including mentalhealth, sexual and reproductive health, and other acute &chronic conditions, within the scope of Advanced PracticeNursing. Participate in quality assurance programs for healthservices. Present health and wellness programs as a part of outreach tothe campus community, which includes student orientations. Participate in University meetings, projects, and committees asassigned. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff.Specifically, willingness and ability to function as an integralteam member within the department (Counseling, Health, Testing,& Disability Services) and the Student Affairs Division. Ability to exercise independent judgement in medical practiceand consult when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master'sprogram or its equivalent required. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri isrequired. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner is required. BLS Certification. Preferred Qualifications An interest in working with a college population. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Strong commitment to professional ethics . Strong critical thinking skills Previous experience working in a higher education setting Familiarity with using an Electronic Medical RecordSystem. Two or more years’ experience as an Advanced PracticeNurse Experience working with a late teen and adult population.¿ Experience with IUD and Nexplanon insertion. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been establishedas up to $56.00 per hour Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including butnotlimited to, the individual’s particular combination of education,skills, and experience, as well as organizationalrequirements.
