Patient Service Representative

The National Pan-Hellenic Council is seeking a professional friendly and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to provide excellent customer service and administrative support in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients ensuring a welcoming experience while supporting efficient daily operations.

The Patient Service Representative will assist with patient registration appointment scheduling insurance verification telephone communications and medical office administrative duties while maintaining patient confidentiality and providing compassionate service.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors professionally and provide a welcoming check-in experience.

• Schedule confirm and reschedule patient appointments.

• Register patients and verify demographic insurance and contact information.

• Verify insurance eligibility and assist with referral and authorization requirements as applicable.

• Answer incoming calls respond to patient inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate department.

• Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments in accordance with office policies.

• Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

• Coordinate patient check-in and check-out procedures.

• Communicate with clinical staff providers and administrative personnel to support patient flow.

• Protect confidential patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements.

• Assist with filing scanning faxing and other administrative duties as needed.

• Address patient concerns courteously and escalate issues when appropriate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Previous customer service receptionist medical office or healthcare administrative experience preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn electronic medical records and scheduling systems.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

• Professional demeanor and a patient-focused attitude.

• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements or willingness to complete required training.
