Job Title: Concrete Finisher

Job Description

This role oversees and participates in tasks such as excavating foundations, grading, erecting forms and rebar, finishing concrete, and operating power tools and equipment. Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, guides less experienced workers, and supports the successful completion of project-based construction assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform excavation of foundations, including site preparation and grading.
  • Erect and align concrete forms to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Install, set, and tie rebar according to project specifications and structural requirements.
  • Participate in and oversee concrete pours, ensuring proper placement, consolidation, and finishing.
  • Perform concrete finishing work, including smoothing, leveling, and finishing slabs and other surfaces.
  • Operate power tools and construction equipment safely and effectively as needed for foundation work.
  • Ensure all crew members follow safety procedures and complete required safety courses.
  • Promote a safe work environment by identifying hazards and enforcing safety standards.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with the crew to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Support and guide trainee and laborer-level workers with limited construction experience.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and functional condition.
  • Provide reliable transportation to the Fairbanks construction office and travel with the crew in company vehicles to job sites as required.
  • Adapt to project-based assignments in multiple locations and varying weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to address issues and ensure smooth project execution.

Essential Skills

  • Concrete finishing experience, including smoothing, leveling, and finishing concrete slabs and surfaces.
  • Hands-on experience setting concrete forms to specified dimensions and layouts.
  • Ability to help pour and finish concrete, including working during active pours and performing final finishing.
  • Experience setting and tying rebar according to structural and project requirements.
  • General concrete construction experience, including concrete pours and concrete slabs.
  • Ability to work safely with power tools and construction equipment in a foundation construction environment.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding work outdoors, including in heat and varying weather conditions.
  • Reliability in providing transportation to the construction office and readiness to travel with the crew to job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on project-based construction jobs across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work as project needs require.
  • Ability to follow safety instructions and complete required safety courses under direction.
  • Comfort working in outdoor environments, including hot weather and varying site conditions.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with crew members of varying experience levels.

Work Environment

The work is primarily project-based, with most assignments located in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Typical schedules run Monday through Friday, with workers generally home on weekends, although some weekend work may be required depending on project demands. The role involves outdoor work in the heat and other weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks as part of a construction crew. Work is conducted on active job sites using concrete construction tools, power tools, and equipment, with a focus on foundation and heavy-capacity scale projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Hall, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
