Veterans may face a range of challenges when reintegrating into civilian life. These challenges can include:
Physical Injuries: Many veterans return home with physical injuries that require ongoing medical care and support.
Mental Health Issues: Conditions like PTSD, depression, and anxiety are common among veterans and require specialized care.
Social Reintegration: Adjusting to civilian life can be difficult, and veterans often need support in rebuilding relationships and finding their place in society.

Compassionate Friends Homecare LLC provides the following services:

Medical Care: Non-Skilled nursing care can help manage physical injuries and chronic conditions.
Mental Health Support: Our caregivers can assist with emotional, psychological and social well being.
Daily Living Assistance: Assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, incontinence care, meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility assistance, personal hygiene, companionship, errands/shopping, assistance with eating, light housekeeping, weekend care, respite services, and surgery recovery helps veterans maintain independence.

About the Role:

The Caregiver role is centered on providing compassionate and personalized support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities due to age, illness, or disability. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for clients by ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being in their own homes or care facilities. This position involves building trusting relationships with clients and their families, understanding their unique needs, and adapting care plans accordingly. Caregivers play a critical role in monitoring health conditions, administering medication as needed, and coordinating with healthcare professionals to support overall wellness. Ultimately, the role contributes to fostering independence and dignity for those under care while offering peace of mind to their loved ones.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid caregiver certification or completion of a recognized caregiver training program.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by state regulations.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification.
• Demonstrated experience in providing personal care or support to elderly or disabled individuals.
• Experience with amputee client is advantageous but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with clients who have chronic illnesses or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
• Additional certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA).
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation practices.
• Strong understanding of nutrition and meal planning for special dietary needs.
• Bilingual abilities to communicate effectively with diverse client populations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor clients for any changes in health or behavior.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and promote mental well-being.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
• Communicate regularly with family members and healthcare providers to report on client status and any concerns.
• Assist with transportation to medical appointments, errands, or social activities as needed.

Skills:

Effective communication skills are essential for understanding client needs and coordinating with family members and healthcare professionals. Empathy and patience enable caregivers to provide compassionate support and build meaningful relationships with clients. Time management and organizational skills help in balancing multiple responsibilities such as medication administration, meal preparation, and housekeeping. Physical stamina and dexterity are important for assisting with mobility and personal care tasks safely. Additionally, problem-solving skills are used daily to adapt care approaches based on changing client conditions and preferences.

Disclaimer

Employee hours are not guaranteed and will vary. Employees may accept or decline offered shifts based on their availability. In order to remain active in the agency's system, the employee must work at least one shift per month. Employees are eligible to move back to an active status should they wish to pick up a shift. PRN employees are generally not eligible for Agency benefits.
