Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineering professional to join our dynamic team. In this senior-level position, you will architect and lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-scale cloud solutions. With 8-10 years of experience, you will drive strategic cloud initiatives, mentor team members, and serve as a technical authority on cloud infrastructure and automation. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and modern DevOps practices to deliver secure, resilient, and cost-effective solutions for our government clients.

Clearance Requirement
This position requires an active DHS clearance or the ability to obtain one. Candidates must be able to meet all security requirements and maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Architect and design comprehensive cloud infrastructure solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms to meet complex government requirements
- Lead the development and implementation of infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar automation frameworks
- Drive cloud migration strategies and execute large-scale workload transitions from on-premises to cloud environments
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure management
- Define and implement cloud security best practices, ensuring compliance with federal security standards and regulations
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on cloud architecture patterns, automation techniques, and industry best practices
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management strategies to maximize efficiency and ROI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, networking, and application development to deliver integrated solutions
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure
- Conduct technical assessments and provide strategic recommendations for cloud platform selection and architecture decisions
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex cloud infrastructure issues and implement proactive monitoring solutions
- Document architectural designs, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications for cloud environments
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their applicability to government contracting environments

Qualifications:

- 8-10 years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture, or related technical roles
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud solutions on major platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Advanced proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and infrastructure management
- Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure as code methodologies and tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)
- Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, and hybrid connectivity
- Proven experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD principles and hands-on experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
- Experience implementing cloud security controls and compliance frameworks relevant to government contracting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including mentoring team members and driving technical initiatives
- Active DHS clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance

Certifications / Licensure:

- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (Required)
- Additional cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Professional are highly valued

Required Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field

Preferred Qualifications:

- Advanced cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent)
- Experience working on government contracts or within federal agencies
- Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST 800-53
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures
- Background in site reliability engineering (SRE) or DevOps practices
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with serverless architectures and microservices design patterns
- DoD 8570 compliance at the CEH level or equivalent
- Master's degree in a related technical field

Additional Requirements:

- Must be able to work full-time from our LMS store office location
- Overtime is allowed and may be required based on project demands
- Position is compensated on an hourly rate basis
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a comprehensive background investigation
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support
- Ability to travel occasionally to client sites or other company locations as needed
