Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• The physician will perform evaluations, diagnosis(es), treatments, and preventions of health disorders.
• Perform comprehensive examinations and assessments, determining diagnosis(es), and completing medical work-ups.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, referring to other specialties or appropriate community resources.
• Provide appropriate clinical documentation of patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in a timely manner. Training regarding the use of CPRS will be provided by the VAMC. All documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
• Ensure accreditation requirements are met for all applicable survey and inspection processes to include, but are not limited to compliance with JCHACO, CARF, and OIG.
• Follow all VA guidelines regarding infection control and safety.
• Adhere to all quality performance measures.
• Provide examinations/reviews as assigned to GEC support services.
• Collaborate with approved fee-based community inpatient programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication and follow-up appointments, as well as, coordinating with ambulatory care services, as appropriate.
• May participate in supervision of residents and medical students assigned to GEC.
• Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients.
• Ensures practice of medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
• Provides a full range of diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate therapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
• The Physician may serve as a team health team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults and triage of specialty clinic referrals.
• Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
• Orders diagnostic tests and consultations, and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
• May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.
• Areas which the physician is assigned and has clinical privileges to practice may include all GEC program areas (inpatient, outpatient and home care).

Compensation

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
