Plant Maintenance Manager

Job Summary Responsible for maintenance and proper utilization of equipment and facility. Ensure standardized, safe, and efficient functioning of all equipment, completion of required preventive maintenance, correct operation of fresh water and wastewater, and the building structure and capability as a production facility. Monitor plant and equipment levels and proactively adjust to ensure output levels are met in a safe, timely, and cost‑effective manner to meet business needs. Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with Market Center Management team and keeps them informed of maintenance issues. Leverages resources of Engineering team as needed to address and overcome engineering issues. Essential Job Tasks and Activities Safety – Create and support a culture of adherence to corporate standardization in support of production, financial and safety goals. Maintenance Management – Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and visually audit plant performance to ensure optimum production and maintenance efficiency for all systems and equipment. Follow corporate direction to set and establish a maintenance schedule for plant equipment that ensures timely equipment operation without disruption in production activities. Follow manufacturer guidelines for preventive maintenance, review and upkeep of equipment. Proactively intervene when issues are found with equipment or the facility. Seek efficient and timely resolution to issues. Communicate with market center management on resolution activities and timing. Perform needed repairs in a safe and efficient manner to restore equipment or facility to operating conditions. Where needed, seek specialized expertise to complete required repairs to the equipment or facility. Audit work and ensure operation of equipment is safe and up to standards. Assist, oversee and coordinate new equipment installation and/or removal. Ensure contracted work is completed in a safe and efficient manner. Oversee water and energy use and utilization. Seek ways to cost‑effectively manage water and energy use at the plant. Work with market center management to identify and implement systems and methods that will improve safety and operating efficiency consistent with safety guidelines, operating goals and cost constraints. Production and Maintenance Management Systems – Ensure plant and equipment can and are operating safely at peak efficiency so that processing takes place in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. Data and Performance Measures – Use production and maintenance operating data to ensure production/facilities type activities contribute to the achievement of market center financial objectives. Maintenance Team Oversight and Development (where applicable) – Responsible for the hiring, placement, and removal of maintenance staff within the market center. Consult and work with management on the best action to take regarding maintenance staffing. Market Center and Corporate Support – Work closely with Engineering management to learn about and leverage best practices and efficiencies for the market center. Learn and share information on systems and methods that will improve safety and operating efficiency consistent with safety guidelines, operating goals, and cost constraints for the entire company. Required Qualifications Minimum education/experience: 2‑year technical college degree or certificate in a related discipline or equivalent business/work experience; preferably in an industrial environment. 2 years’ experience managing a maintenance staff. Basic equipment maintenance knowledge: electrical, plumbing, and large machinery required; industrial experience preferred. Previous management experience in safety initiatives, planning, preventive maintenance, budgeting, and vendor management. Ability to read maintenance literature. Experience with maintenance management system; Manager Plus experience preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work within a fast‑paced environment, yet willing and able to work effectively with ambiguous circumstances. License Requirements / Certifications Must possess a current and valid driver’s license. Previous wastewater experience is preferred, but not required. Boiler license preferred, but not required.
