Job Overview Position: Phlebotomist II Territory – Long Beach, CA Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with rotational weekends. Pay: $25.80 - $27.65 per hour. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Eligible candidates may receive an annual performance bonus. Licensing: State phlebotomy license required. Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, or NV. Responsibilities Specimen Collection & Processing: Perform specimen collections following established procedures for venipuncture and capillary draws, including pediatric, geriatric, and hard‑stick situations. Obtain patient identification and signatures; perform data entry as necessary. Prepare specimens for transport and testing—labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and storage as required. Research test/client information and confirm all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems. Patient Experience & Customer Service: Independently resolve routine patient and client concerns and appropriately escalates non‑routine issues. Provide respectful, efficient service using strong verbal and written communication and problem‑solving skills. Perform accurate data entry for patient registration, test order entry, and billing. Communicate collection procedures clearly and address patient questions. Maintain a clean, orderly, welcoming collection environment. Handle multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting. Site Support and Travel: Provide coverage across PSCs and Client Offices within the assigned territory with minimal notice. Ensure daily office activities are completed accurately and on time. Maintain reliable transportation; meet travel expectations including a valid driver license and clean driving record if applicable. Operations & Compliance: Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies. Follow departmental policies, procedures, safety protocols, and compliance standards, including patient confidentiality. Utilize laboratory systems, directories, and corporate tools to confirm orders and documentation. Support routine administrative tasks: supply stocking, sanitizing, maintaining logs, filing, phone usage. Complete all training and maintain current phlebotomy skills and knowledge. Qualifications Required Work Experience: Two years of phlebotomy experience. Preferred Experience: Customer service in a retail or service environment. Physical Requirements: Lift up to 15 lbs frequently, up to 40 lbs occasionally with assistance; perform repetitive hand motions; stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, twist, pull; use phone and computer regularly. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of phlebotomy best practices, including pediatric and geriatric draws. Skills: Independent, accurate, error‑free work in a fast‑paced setting; strong communication; keyboard/data entry experience. Education: High School diploma or equivalent (required). Language: English (required). Licenses & Certifications: Phlebotomy certification required in CA, NV, WA, and LA; professional medical certification (e.g., medical assistant, phlebotomy) preferred. Travel: Up to 75% within assigned territory.
