Supervisory Food Services Specialist (Food Service Administrator)

Responsibilities Responsible for the preparation and serving of all inmate meals (to include medical, religious and regular diets) on a daily basis. Helps develop, maintain, and monitor goals and objectives established to accomplish the Food Service mission of the Bureau of Prisons. Must know and understand the methods and objectives of custody and discipline as it applies to inmates and must also be familiar with Bureau and institutional policies, rules, procedures and practices. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Such experience must have demonstrated: Experience in planning the layout and design of the department and determining equipment requirements. Experience in providing specialized programs and functions such as satellite feeding, medical/religious diets, and vocational training. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers and monitoring the quality and condition of the products upon delivery. Experience in developing detailed estimates and initial requests for funds required to operate the department and monitoring the expenditure of all funds. Additional Information In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for original appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution. The representative rate for this position is $118,991 per annum ($57.02 per hour). Special Conditions of Employment Section: Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm. Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
